It's that time of the year when Lincoln Citizens really focus on the City budget and what is being done with OUR money. Possibly you keep up with the current activities of the Parks & Recreation Department, BUT it is amazing how much is being done!!

This month our guest speaker is Lynn Johnson, Director of Parks & Recreation. The responsibilities are many and very varied but his enthusiasm is contagious! Lynn can answer questions on the Antelope Valley Project and how this is increasing recreation and trail opportunities with one area being the thirty acre "Northeast Community Park", located near 32nd Street & Leighton Avenue.

The Parks & Recreation Department naturally deals with "people" and who is more important than our grandchildren and Lincoln's young. Lynn will explain how Parks & Recreation teamed up with Lincoln's schools and created the Mickle Community Learning Center and then jointed with the YMCA and Northeast Family Center establishing the Pershing Community Learning Center. While attending the Centers children are under constant supervision while learning and enjoying sports, games, movies, field trips, the list goes on and on.
