COUNCILMAN DOUG EMERY'S
NORTHEAST CITIZENSí MEETING
THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2009

This month we will hear how the Food Bank of Lincoln gathers, stores and distributes surplus food to over 180 non-profit programs in 16 Southeastern Nebraska counties. Scott Young, our speaker and Executive Director of the Food Bank of Lincoln, accepted his position in 2001 after a 28 year broadcasting career.

Scott will explain how the Food Bank works to have an effect on the hunger problem in Nebraska communities. The Food Bank has grown 53% over the last two years and distributed 4.3 million pounds of food in 2008!! As the economy turns Scott is driven and he is hoping to gather 5 million pounds of food for distribution this year!!

After Scottís presentation he has left time open to answer questions on the Food Bank of Lincolnís operation, special promotions and events, and how they make a difference to many Nebraska citizens.

We look forward to seeing you on
