COUNCILMAN DOUG EMERY'S
NORTHEAST CITIZENSí MEETING
THURSDAY, MAY 20, 2010

This month we are very fortunate to have Patte Newman among us again!! As most know, Patte is the former Lincoln City Council Northeast District representative. She now serves in the position of the Lancaster County Substance Abuse Action Coalition Coordinator.

The Lancaster County Substance Abuse Action Coalition (SAAC) was formed in the early 2000's based on estimations that over 12,000 residents of Lancaster County need treatment for substance abuse. SAAC represents around 70 agencies dealing with substance abuse in prevention, treatment, and criminal justice. Focus of much of the half million dollar annual budget, from several grants, is work to prevent underage drinking within ten community groups at urban and rural high schools. The Lincoln Northeast group, N-Acts, started last year and hit the ground running with their projects.

Patte will discuss what kinds of problems Lincoln/Lancaster County is seeing with alcohol and drug abuse and what resources are out there to help.

We look forward to seeing you on
