City Council Office
Doug Ahlberg, Director of Emergency Management, is our guest speaker. We are very pleased to have Doug join us again as we know how busy he, and his office, are at this time of year.Doug’s responsibilities include keeping Lancaster County prepared for a natural disaster, or a man-made emergency, and to this extent he continually focuses on maintaining the most efficient, technologically advanced center and equipment. As Doug was able to obtain an Emergency Management Grant through FEMA he has moved to a new call center, increased his work stations, and added new wireless equipment.
With tornado season in Lancaster County usually in April, May and June, Doug organized this move well before the season and is now officially located at 233 South 10th Street. Doug will explain some of the benefits to Lincoln and Lancaster County of this move.
With the versatile weather throughout the country Doug understands concerns and will open the floor to questions regarding the Emergency Management Center, the disaster plan in place, and how Emergency Management concentrates on the safety of Lincoln.
