On an ongoing basis, LF&R constantly seeks alternative funding to support the many needs of the department by requesting grant funding whenever possible. When grant funds are awarded, the department and the community benefit, as limited tax dollars may be re appropriated to other needs. Since 2003 LF&R has requested approximately $7,000,000 and has successfully recieved approximately $1,800,000, or over 25% of funds requested.

These highly competitive grants involve thousands of fire departments making similar requests annually.
