Battalion Chief, Jeremy Gegg
Jeremy Gegg has been a member of Lincoln Fire Rescue since 2001. He served as a volunteer for the Festus MO Fire Department in the St. Louis area starting in 1996 during the summers and school breaks while obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree. He obtained a BS degree in Safety Management with a fire science emphasis from the University of Central Missouri. After getting hired by Lincoln Fire Rescue he has served in numerous capacities. He served as a floating firefighter from 2001-2004, a firefighter on Engine 1 and Medic 1 from 2004-2006. He was promoted and served as a floating fire apparatus operator from 2006-2008. He was promoted to fire captain in 2008 and served as a floating captain for one year before getting his dream job of being the captain on Engine 1 for seven years. During his time on Engine 1 he also served several short stints on Truck 1. While serving as captain at station 1, Jeremy had the great opportunity to train several probationary firefighters. Jeremy was promoted to Battalion Chief in December 2015.
Jeremy was instrumental with assistance from numerous people in developing policy and procedures for fighting fires in high rise and standpipe equipped buildings. He identified needed equipment and helped development a training program for training the entire department in this important area. Jeremy has served on several LFR committees including the peer review committee for investigating vehicle accidents and the training advisory committee. Jeremy has also served as a rescue specialist with NE-TF1.
Jeremy is very committed to continuing education and has attended the Fire Department Instructors Conference and the Les Lukert Conference numerous times. He has also attended Wichita Hot, Omaha Truck Academy, and Firetown Training Specialists Captainís College and Strategy and Tactics courses. He has also attended Anthony Kastrosí Managing Fireground Command Course and several University of Kansas fire service classes.
Jeremy has served many years as a board of trustee member for the City of Lincoln Police and Fire Pension. Jeremy is married to Jenny and has a daughter Olympia and a son Oslo.
