OLD BUSINESS
The Holmatro Demo at Crete is canceled. Chuck Schweitzer from the Lincoln office of Fire Prevention is still looking for a house for the arson seminar.

NEW BUSINESS
Doug Ahlberg spoke with officials from Douglas county and Omaha regarding the Dept of Justice funding. He also will be going to the County Board on developing the Homeland Security plan. If this is done right about 14 million will be available from FEMA. They will look at fire districts for critical infrastructure and the equipment needed to protect it. The plan needs to be done by September to be bale to apply for the 14 million. The decon equipment should all be in be the end of June. An update on legislative bills by Eric Rasmussen was that the bill to up the life insurance from 5,000 to 10,000 for volunteer responders has passed. Also a change in the workman's comp coverage allows volunteers to be covered from the time the call comes in until they are released from duty. The Forest Service's status hasn't changed since last month. There is money to keep the fire control section running. A study will also be done to determine if the Forest Service should still be a part of the University or should be moved to another are area to be administrated. Eric says the cost share dollars have come out. The Fire Marshals office is having a large part of the money paid to them by insurance companies taken out of their budget to be used elsewhere. Fire School was well attended and had good classes.

Some people have had questions and problems with the new HIppa law. Nebraska's version is being rewritten to follow more with the federal version. Seven people attended the LFR class for mutual aid on 5/15/03. Doug Ahlberg now has 48 trainers for the CERT classes. Anyone outside Lancaster county interested in having a CERT class in their area contact Doug. *** An update to the 2003 meetings the August meeting will be in Crete and the November meeting will be at the EOC/911 center.
