Hickmans paging adjustment is working well. Waverly has a large number of Medi Teddies if anyone needs them.
Emergency Management will be having an exercise with the Airport authority 9/21, 22 and 23 with an aircraft fuselage simulator for use. Fire can be started in this. It would be available for MA departments use on the 22nd and 23rd. The 2004 ODP grant money will purchase 9 mobile repeaters one for each department in Lancaster County/ We also received money for a new north tower. The NE Forest Service is interviewing for their opening for the planner position. They also wanted to let everyone know their shop will work on any military surplus vehicles. Bill Lundy from York is running for NSVFA Secretary/Treasurer and would like to attend our next meeting. The 2004 NSVFA convention will be Oct. 15th and 16th in Gering NE. The NE firefighters museum and hall of fame committee has purchased a building by Kearney that will be turned into the NE Firefighters Museum and hall of fame. Some events of the 2005 NSVFA convention which will be held in Kearney will take place at the Museum. Doug says recouped money from the Hallam incident are around $1,000,000 and equipment costs have been submitted to the state for the MA depts. He thinks we need to implement a billing process for anytime we mutual aid for over 10 hours. We don't have to collect this but we need to show a history of billing each other.
If this had been in place we could also have recouped manpower hours from the Federal government. Jim would like to get a committee started on working on revamping the mutual aid agreement after the first of the year.
If your department doesn't want the two mobile repeaters order for each department through the Grant let Doug at D&D know ASAP. The Radio shop says coverage with the new system doesn't look like it will be an issue. The 911 Dispatchers have been trained and people from both the radio shop and 911 will be setting up classes to train our departments. The system should be up and running soon. The Jenson Park tower at 90th and Yankee Hill is close to completion and training is going well so far.
