EMS MEETING
LFR brought a 6 page handout outlining cost and a draft proposal. Then Dan Wright gave a PowerPoint presentation on how LFR will respond into the Rural Districts. This will be over a 2 1/2 year process. There was the an introduction of some city staff, LFR personnel, EMS INC. and Midwest Medical. There is a draft interlocal agreement being worked on. History was given on the past EMS system and LFR’s original plan. There still is no agreement or legal obligation for LFR to respond into the county. Ongoing discussions have been going since 2005 to continue LFR response into the county. A 60/40 fee split was agreed on by the county BLS transport agencies w/LFR. In March 2007 it was determined that the 60/40 split wasn’t enough to offset costs. The handouts showed the differences in costs during two time periods. Questions were then asked on if bills have been sent out in a timely fashion. It was also asked if collections go up does this pass on to the Rural Districts ? Many more questions were asked on costs of the system and then the discussion moved on to the transition plan. All providers would work on the plan. LFR will continue until 1/1/2008 with no change but need each districts intentions by 11/15/2007.
Questions were asked of Midwest about their ability to respond into the county. They weren’t able to say much due to their Business Director not being able to attend. It was also asked if there were any plans for a separate agency for County/City ambulance service. There was much more discussion of the issues but due to not wanting to kill an entire forest I’m not going to put them in the newsletter.
I have a copy of the cost handout and can get them for anyone who is interested and I am sure LFR can get us copies of anything else for those who are interested. LFR will send out the draft interlocal agreement. It was decided to have another meeting on our next meeting date 10/15/07. It will also be held at the Health Departments meeting room at 2000.
