OLD BUSINESS
Julie from 911 would like to set up a work group on evaluating using bases as a backup to 911 in the event of a radio failure or other major incident. The membership attending thought this was a good idea and a committee was established with Phil Nalley from Southwest as the chair. He will send information to all the departments asking for members for the committee.
It was voted on tonight not to change the storm alert paging for another year. 911 will page out storm watches and warnings as the have been doing.
NEW BUSINESS
Tim from Bennet would like to have LFR units when they mutual aid us to use our radio frequency rather than LFR frequencies to make Incident Command easier. It was decided to send Chief Ford a letter to arrange a meeting to discuss this. He also brought up the importance of keeping your run sheets so you track who was on the call. There have been some changes in line of duty death benefits that make this very important.
Jan Stordahl representing StarCare and the hospitals MMRS committee came to tell us about the hospitals starting a system where the first Tuesday of every Month they would like all patients brought in with a triage tag. This will help the hospitals practice their mass casualty skills. They are starting this the first Tuesday in September. Palmyra announced they are getting a newer pumper and also the western 2/3rds of Otoe county is up on the 400 MHz paging system.
Gage county has canceled their 300 and 400 NIMS classes. LFR will put on a class after the first of the year. Doug Ahlberg says that Emergency Management has a rapid response trailer equipped with a generator, lights tarps flashlights ETC that can be requested by an agency who needs it. The annual NSVFA meeting is in NO Platte this year Oct 17/18 and the State EMS board is meeting in NO Platte on Oct 16th. The Arson conference will be in Council Bluffs at Harrahs this year in the last week of September. The NSVFA is sponsoring another legislative breakfast this year on 1/20/09. They are promoting the safe cigarette bill as well as tax benefits for volunteers. The Forest Service has made copies of the updated statutes of what can be done with donated funds or funds that are billed and put in a trust fund . Contact George Texeira if you want copies.
