Deputy Chief of Maintenance, Dennis Klein

Dennis currently serves as Deputy Chief of Maintenance with the Lincoln Fire Department. His career with the department began in 1972. He held the position of fire apparatus driver on engine 7 for 21 years and is an EMTAD.

As Deputy Chief of Maintenance, Dennis is responsible for planning, assigning and supervising the maintenance and repair of both automotive and diesel equipment and instructing fire department personnel in the operation of the equipment. Dennis is also responsible for scheduling, conducting, and maintaining current equipment for preventative maintenance and preparing specifications for the purpose of new equipment.

Dennis attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln studying business administration and Southeast Community College fire science courses. He has attended the Cummins Great Plans Diesel School and BWD Automotive Corp. School. He currently holds a CDL license with a combination vehicle/haz mat and tanker endorsement. Dennis assists in development of the defensive driving and fire apparatus certification programs. He also has been certified in SCBA repairs and maintenance.
