NETF1 Handlers Receive US&R Search Canines

NETF1 Canine Handlers Mark Schroeder, Steve MacDonald, Damon Wirth, Andrew Pitcher, and Monica Barger are at the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation Training Center in Ventura, California for 2 weeks training with their new US&R Search Canines. The US&R canines have been specially trained and prepared for their new assignment with our NETF1 handlers. The handlers spend long days getting acquainted and training with their new canines in preparation to bring the canines back home to Nebraska. Upon return to the Lincoln area, the handler/canine teams will continue to train in preparation for national certification with the National Urban Search & Rescue program. Once certified, the handler/canine teams will become a local, state, and national resource for locating persons that have survived building collapses or other incidents where canines can assist with locating survivors. NETF1 is proud of our new handler/canine teams and look forward to their return to Lincoln on November 6, 2010.
