World Trade Center Attacks, Sept. 11th

 

Events of September 27, 2001, 10:00 a.m.

CURRENT SITUATION
NE-TF1 is a fully equipped and staffed FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Task Force of 62 people. For their current assignment, NE-TF1 has been divided into two teams; Rapid Response Task Force #2 (RRTF#2) at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, and Rapid Response Task Force #1 (RRTF#1) at Fort Totten. The terminology "Rapid Response Task Force" is non-standard and has been created to accommodate this non-traditional application of a US&R Task Force.

CRITICAL ISSUE
None

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Base of Operations set up has been completed.

RESOURCES ASSIGNED
All members of the team are currently supporting the New York City Fire Department as Rapid Response Teams.

RRTF#1 & 2 is comprised of 31 people and four vehicles that are stocked with equipment normally carried by a US&R Task Force. In this case, the equipment cache assigned for use by NE-TF1 contains the search, breaking & breeching equipment, but only a portion of the normal quantity.

Lumber is carried on the response vehicle. Cribbing, wedges and shores are being carried on the current vehicles for immediate use if needed.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES (next 24 - 72 hours)
NE-TF1 Rescue Response Team #1 & 2 will be conducting team training and preparing for their assigned duties.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Both teams #1 and #2 are anxious to get down to the World Trade Center site and work. Possible start on Friday.

Friday Lincoln Fire & Rescue will receive a conference call from Chief Spadt at 10:30 a.m.
