The Lincoln Fire & Rescue Department's Urban Search & Rescue Task Force worked their last operational period September 29 - 30, 2001 from 1900-0700 hours without injury to members of the team. This successfully completes their assignment from FEMA in support of search and rescue efforts at the World Trade Center. Although work will continue for an unknown length of time, the mission of the USAR teams has been completed. FEMA will continue to support the City of New York with a single task force until it is no longer needed.
The task force has been directed to prepare personnel and equipment for aircraft transportation. The tentative departure from New York is October 1, 2001 departing at 1230 hours EST returning to Lincoln.
