Volunteer for a Clean Community

KLLCB encourages residents to take action for a clean, healthy and safe community. Our organization’s goals are accomplished in large part through the assistance of community volunteers. Year-round volunteer opportunities are available for groups and individuals, and most projects are flexible to meet the needs and schedules of volunteers.

To volunteer for any of the opportunities listed below, please fill out KLLCB’s volunteer application and indicate which volunteer opportunities you want to participate in.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Litter cleanups: Help maintain a clean City and County. Cleanups must take place in public areas including streets, alleys, County roads, parks, schools and recreation areas. Volunteers are assigned a specific area for cleanup and are supplied with trash bags, safety vests and other equipment. These projects can be scheduled throughout the year. They are a great volunteer opportunity for groups and are open to all ages.

Storm Water Awareness Program (SWAP): Help label over 20,000 storm drains in Lincoln with "No Dumping - Drains to Creek" markers. Volunteers apply markers to storm drains, distribute educational flyers to residents and pick up litter in the work area. Excellent group opportunity, open to all ages. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events: These events encourage citizens to properly dispose of toxic materials commonly found in households. Volunteer activities include handing out educational material, directing traffic, taking surveys and other duties as assigned. Collections are held once per month March-November. Must be 16 years old to participate. For more information on the household hazardous waste program, click here.
