Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department Environmental Public Health Food Safety Program |
The purpose of the Food Sanitation Program is to ensure that commercially prepared food is safe to consume. Staff members review plans for new establishments and ensure compliance with the food code by prospective and existing food service operators. Food team staff inspect restaurants, retail food stores, food warehouses, food processors, institutional food services and county correctional facilities. Staff members also investigate public complaints on food establishments and potential food borne disease out breaks. Another important part of the Food Program is food handler/manager education and testing.
