Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department Environmental Public Health Mini-Grants |

Since 1987, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department's Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful Program has promoted litter clean ups of rural communities, neighborhoods, waterways, lakes, road sides and other public land. Neighborhoods, businesses or employee organizations, rural communities, and groups such as schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church groups, clubs, etc. are encouraged to participate. To qualify for a grant, cleanups must occur on public land. Grants are available first come, first serve, as long as the money is available.
Each year Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful (KLLCB) Program applies for a Litter Reduction Recycling Fund cleanup grant through the Nebraska Department Environmental Quality. Grant amounts vary yearly, so interested applicants should apply early. Guidelines for this grant are important, so please read the requirements.
Grants are awarded for cleaning up litter on public land areas. Mini-grants will be distributed to interested groups and organizations in the following categories and grant amounts will be based on the size of cleanup involving public land; (see grant guidelines for additional information).

The goal is to encourage cleanup of public use areas such as road right-of-ways, illegal roadside dumps, public waterways and other public property not on designated State, County or City Adopt-A-Highway or Trail miles. Recycling of materials collected is encouraged when feasible.
The lake or stream cleanup portion emphasizes cleaning up the banks, shorelines and dam faces of public lakes and streams in Lancaster County. Additional record keeping is required for lake or stream cleanup as specific data on items collected is submitted to the Ocean Conservory each fall. Lake cleanups should occur in late September as part of the International Coastal Clean up Day.
Grant recipients must document their projects. Take pictures before, during and after the cleanup. Please read the Guidelines, fill out the application form and return it by e-mail or US Postal Service. The Clean Up Mini-Grant Application may be completed here. Once your application is received and awarded, a confirmation letter and final report form will be sent to you. You may print off a check list for cleanups (pdf).
Grant recipients should keep track of details for your final report and within two weeks of completing your cleanups time return your report and photos. Thank you for your time and effort in helping Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County clean.
