Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department Environmental Public Health Star City Holiday Parade

Are you a person who likes fun? Do you like to volunteer? Do you like to make people smile while you are keeping the community clean? Do you like to buy collectable parade sweatshirts that only cost you $5.00? If so, the Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful (KLLCB) program wants you!

Since 1993 KLLCB has promoted the Star City Holiday Parade as a litter free event. Two groups of volunteers are needed.

Students in 5th - 12th grade from all schools in Lincoln & Lancaster County are encouraged to register to be in this award winning walking unit.

• 100 youth kids will perform a choreographed routine and chart that promotes the litter free message as they go down the street in the parade!
• 6 people to carry banners.
• 3 people are needed to wear character costumes and interact with the crowd.

The second group are the key volunteers in making the parade a successful litter free event. Sidewalk Volunteers are needed to monitor a one to two block area along the parade route and interact with those watching the parade to provide them with an easy way to throw away their trash. The Sidewalk Volunteers receive many positive comments each year from those watching the parade. It's a lot of fun, and you still get to see the parade.

• 50 Sidewalk Volunteers are needed each year.
