The Summer Food Service Program was established to ensure that all children ages 2 to 18 years would continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session.
All children are eligible to participate at no cost regardless of race, sex, national origin, or disability. No meals are served to adults. Meals must be eaten on site, and are served on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program is a cooperative effort of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, the Lincoln Food Bank, The Salvation Army and many community agencies and organizations. Many Summer Food Program sites are located at community organizations who provide summer programs for children.
The program usually runs from early June through mid-August at many sites across Lincoln. For more information, or if you are interested in becoming an SFSP site, please contact us.
