This center is as a community focal point for activities relating to aging. It provides maximum visibility and is readily available to those who need its services or those who have concerns for elderly parents and friends. It provides virtually one-stop service for older persons as offices for them come under one roof.
Transportation: Transportation is provided within a specific boundary area for center activities. Call the office for details, 402-441-7158. If you would like to use the van, the suggested contributions is only $2 each way,($4 round trip). Please call 402-441-7863 the day before you need the van to schedule your pick up time.
Senior Saver StarTran passes (for older adults 62 and older) are available for $16. For more information call 402-441-7154.
Commodities: Every other month commodities are distributed at the center. Signing up for the first time? Please bring a photo ID and proof of income. If you're unable to pick up your own, call the center manager and ask that your commodities be signed for. They'll be held for four days. To register or pick them up call 402-438-5231..
My Center News: My Center News is filled with monthly activities and events. These newsletters are available for free at your local senior center or by mail for a suggested contribution of $6 per year for those 60+ and an $8 fee for those under age 60. Call 402-441-7154 for details.
Public Access Computers: These computers are located in the lower level. Come in and check your e-mail, surf the Web, or catch up with your favorite blogger.
Rental Information: Are you looking for a place to hold a birthday party, anniversary celebration, family reunion, or organization meeting, call the Senior Center today!
Senior Health Promotion Clinic: The clinic provides comprehensive foot care, ear care, blood pressure screenings, blood glucose screenings, cholesterol screenings, Sahara Bone Density screenings, medication review, safety checks and Health Promotion Education. Please bring a list of your prescriptions and over-the-counter medications$10 suggested contribution for foot care and $5 for other services. No appointment necessary. Services available to people age 60+. Co-Sponsored by Aging Partners and the University of Nebraska Medical Center - College of Nursing. Free Income Tax Assistance: Aging Partners offers Income Tax Assistance at the Downtown Center, Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., February through April each year. AARP tax consultants will be available to assist you with your income tax needs. Please bring your photo ID, Social Security card, wage and earnings statements (W2s), interest and dividend statements (Form 1099), a copy of last year's return, and any other information about your income and expenses. Call (402) 441-7158 to make your appointment. Ask about a lunch reservation for the same day! Check the status of your refund.
