This center is as a community focal point for activities relating to aging. It provides maximum visibility and is readily available to those who need its services or those who have concerns for elderly parents and friends. It provides virtually one-stop service for older persons as offices for them come under one roof.
Transportation: Transportation is provided within a specific boundary area for center activities. Call the office for details, 402-441-7158. If you would like to use the van, the suggested contributions is only $2 each way,($4 round trip). Please call 402-441-7863 the day before you need the van to schedule your pick up time.
Senior Saver StarTran passes (for older adults 62 and older) are available for $16. For more information call 402-441-7154.
Commodities: Commodities are distributed on the third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. To register call 402-438-5238 and have them picked up at the Downtown center.
My Center News: My Center News is filled with monthly activities and events. These newsletters are available for free at your local senior center or by mail for a suggested contribution of $6 per year for those 60+ and an $8 fee for those under age 60. Call 402-441-7154 for details.
Public Access Computers: These computers are located in the lower level. Come in and check your e-mail, surf the Web, or catch up with your favorite blogger.
Rental Information: Are you looking for a place to hold a birthday party, anniversary celebration, family reunion, or organization meeting, call the Senior Center today!
Senior Health Promotion Clinic: Group health screenings (bone density, blood pressure, cholesterol, medication review and safety checks). Call Health & Fitness at 402-441-7575 for clinic dates and times.
Free Income Tax Assistance:Income Tax Assistance is offered Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., February 4 - April 11. AARP tax consultants will be available to assist you with your income tax needs. Please bring your photo ID, Social Security card, wage and earnings statements (W2s), interest and dividend statements (Form 1099), a copy of last year's return, and any other information about your income and expenses. Call (402) 441-7158 to make your appointment. Ask about a lunch reservation for the same day! Check the status of your refund.
