Saline County Eldercare provides a variety of assistance to any Saline County resident 60 years or older. Information and referrals are also available to anyone who has concerns regarding the welfare of an older person. Eldercare services help older individuals maintain independent living and remain an active and vital part of their Community. If in doubt, please call (402) 821-3330 for information.

Saline Eldercare is jointly sponsored by County, State, and Federal funds made available through the Saline County Board of Commissioners and Aging Partners. Contributions for services and donations also help to support the Program.

Saline County Eldercare is open Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to
4 p.m. except for recognized County

Programs Available for Seniors
Unless otherwise indicated, call the Eldercare office for information on the following programs. Fees for services is indicated.
Friendly Visitor - Trained volunteers, who visit with older adults in their homes,
do telephone checks and can provide
essential transportation.
Foot Clinics - Medical professions provide basic toenail care and maintenance,
as well as education. Clinics are
available in Wilber, Create, Friend and Dorchester for a requested donation of $10. Some towns are currently wait-listed,
please call for details.)
Homestead Exemption Assistance - This tax break is available to homeowners age 65+ and to persons with disabilities that meet specific income and valuation guidelines. To see if you might qualify, contact the Saline Eldercare of the County Assessor.
Meat Packages - All Saline county residents 60+ are eligible for a monthly meat package. Selection varies each month,
but usually contains a variety of chicken
and pork products.
Medical Equipment Loan - Our office maintains a variety of good, used durable medical equipment. Saline county residents or their caregivers are welcome to borrow equipment at no charge. Equipment loans are made on the first come first served basis.
Senior Companion - A Companion who is 60 years or older who encourages independence through home visits with older adults.
Information & Referral Services for Seniors
Case Management - Available for persons and caregivers who need assistance in dealing with specific care needs.
Home Health Care - Third-party agency that provides medical professionals who assist with daily living needs. (Fee)
Home Care Providers - Individuals who will perform non-medical tasks within the home. i.e. personal tasks, light housework, etc. (Fee)
Outreach - Upon request, Saline Eldercare staff will visit older individuals in their homes to discuss requests or necessary services. (Fee)
Congregate & Home Delivered Meals
Crete Community Center - 1410 Main Street, Crete. (In the Wanek Community Center Building.) Friendly, congregate meals and home delivered meals. Monday - Saturday, no holidays. (402) 826-3472 (Fee)
Crete Manor - Lunch meals delivered Monday - Saturday. Special diets are available.

DeWitt Senior Center - Congregate Meals are offered every Wednesday at noon for a suggested donation. Home delivered meals are offered Monday - Friday, no weekend or holiday delivery. Call (402) -683-4325 or (402) 683-3295 for details and reservations. Meals delivered within the city limits.
Easy Meals - Easy Meals - Available to all rural residents of Saline County, and those living in Dorchester, Crete, Swanton, Tobias, Friend and Western. Five meals delivered once a week to qualifying seniors and disabled. Call Saline Eldercare for more information. (Donation)
Warren Memorial Hospital Manor - delivered within the city limits Monday - Saturday and most holidays. Special diets per doctor's order. Call (402) 947-2541. (Fee)
Wilber Seniors - Noon meals delivered within the city limits Monday - Friday with some holiday delivery available.
Call (402) 821-2331. (Fee) Also, on the 4th Thursday of every month (except holidays) a noon meal is served along with
entertainment or an informational program hosted by the Wilber churches. Reservations are needed one week prior.

Grocery Delivery in Saline County
Crete - Foodmart, (402) 826-5099. Place order by Monday for Tuesday delivery.
Free delivery for orders over $25. There is a $5 delivery fee on orders under $25.
Dorchester - Grocery Store, (402) 946-2020. Place order a day ahead for delivery
the next morning. Delivery within city limits only.
Friend - Orv's Grocery, (402) 947-2251. Place order by 9 a.m. Wednesday for
10 a.m. Wednesday delivery. There is a $1 delivery fee.
Western - KT's Market, (402) 433-2291. Place order by Friday morning for Friday afternoon. No charge for delivery. Delivery within the city limits only.
Wilber - Food Mesto, (402) 821-2211. Place order by 10 a.m. for same day delivery. There's a $3 delivery fee for orders under $15; free delivery for orders over $15.
Commodity Distribution
