Visit a Senior Center near you. Come to meet friends for lunch and stay for a variety of stimulating activities. You will find health and fitness programs, classes and entertainment. You will also find access to the many other services of Aging Partners. Call 441-7158 for more information or to arrange transportation to a center near you.

Community Options

Transportation services allow disabled and older persons to access their community services, health care providers, shopping and social activities. Rural Transit Services: transportation for persons in rural Lancaster and surrounding counties is available but limited.

Lancaster County Rural Transit

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, in cooperation with the Aging Partners, provides van transportation for all persons residing in rural Lancaster County and selected surrounding communities outside of Lancaster County.

SCHEDULE: Rural transportation consists of early morning pick-ups in your area of the county and mid-afternoon returns to your home. Rural Transit runs from north of Lincoln on Mondays and Wednesdays; and south of Lincoln on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

MID-DAY IN TOWN TRANSFERS: If you need additional in town transportation, it can be requested when you make your Rural Transit appointment. The cost for mid-day in town transfers is $3.00.

APPOINTMENTS: Calls for appointments must be made at least one day in advance. Reservations for Mondays should be made on the previous Friday. Reservations for trips to be taken on the day following a holiday should be made on the working day before the holiday. Call 402-441-7031 to make an appointment Mon. - Fri., from 8 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

CONTRIBUTIONS: The price for a one-way trip on Lancaster County Rural Transit is $2.00. This contribution will be accepted by cash or, for your convenience by purchasing a 10 punch ticket. Tickets are available by mail, or in person at the Lancaster County Rural Transit Office at 233 South 10th Street, Lincoln, NE 68502.
