Mayor Don Wesely said he was pleased by today's seven to zero vote by the City Council to adopt the city budget for 2000-2001.
"We are working well together on our mutual goal of holding the line on property taxes," Wesely said. "We accomplished this goal while providing a needed increase in police salaries, adding four more police officers to protect our citizens and improving other city services."
The city budget will also increase funding for sidewalk repairs, residential street rehabilitation and developing a new Comprehensive Plan for the city. The city's StarTran bus service will also be improved with two new north-south routes on 27th and 70th streets.
