The city Public Works and Utilities Department will close Vine Street from 84th to 81st streets Monday, June 10 to continue work on the water main project along 84th Street. This closure accompanies the current closure of 84th Street from “O” Street to Vine Street. Motorists who have been using Russwood Drive to by-pass the area will need to find an alternate route. The official detour for this project uses “O” Street, Holdrege Street and 70th Street and is meant to discourage motorists from cutting through neighborhoods on residential streets. Traffic signals have been adjusted in anticipation of the added traffic related to the detour. The closed portion of 84th Street is scheduled to reopen around the first part of August.

Another major arterial, South 27th Street, will close south of Nebraska Highway 2 on Tuesday, June 11. Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad will remove and replace the railroad tracks. This will cause the closure of the entire street from Highway 2 to Tipperary Trail, except for local residential traffic, through Friday, June 14.
