Mayor Don Wesely has appointed City Council Member Terry Werner as Chair of United Nations Day activities for the Lincoln Chapter of the United Nations Association. International United Nations Day is celebrated every year on October 24, the date the U.N. Charter was ratified in 1945.

As local Chair, Werner will participate in organizing U.N. Day events in Lincoln and will work to increase awareness of the U.N. and its impact on the quality of life for people around the world.

Mayor Wesely will issue a U.N. Day proclamation at a raising of the U.N. flag at the County City Government Center in late September. Other activities include a U.N. Day banquet Sunday, October 20 at the UNL East Campus Student Union.
