Mayor Don Wesely today announced that all rides on StarTran will be free Saturday, December 7th for the Star City Holiday Parade in downtown Lincoln. The free day is sponsored by Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1293. "StarTran bus rides will be free all day on all routes, making it a great way to get to the parade and to do holiday shopping," said Mayor Wesely. "I want to thank the members of the ATU for their generosity on this special day and for the public transportation services they provide every day." "The local ATU represents StarTran drivers and mechanics, and we feel it’s important to give back to our community," said Les Helms, Transit Union President. "StarTran is an excellent service, and we hope those who ride the bus for free that day will become regular riders." The Parade begins at 11 a.m. More information is available at www.starcityholidayfestival.org.
