Portion of South 56th Street to Close Friday Morning
South 56th Street between Randolph Street and "O" Street will close to through
traffic at 6 a.m. Friday, May 31 and will remain closed for about six weeks.
Construction crews will install new water and gas mains in 56th Street and
re-pave a section of the street.
There will be no access from "O" Street to South 56th Street, and the
intersection of 56th and "N" Streets will also be closed. Motorists on 56th
Streets will be detoured onto Cotner Boulevard between Randolph and "R" streets.
South 56th Street will remain open to local residential traffic only between
Randolph and "N" streets. Drivers should use Piazza Terrace to access the
alley that runs behind businesses on the south side of "O" Street between 53rd
and 56th streets.
