East "O" Street Traffic will Shift June 15 Traffic on East "O" Street between 52nd Street and Eastridge Drive will shift to the north side of the street at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction. A center turn lane will provide access into businesses along the north side of "O" Street. The traffic shift will remain in effect until mid-September 2002.

Access to South 53rd Street from "O" Street will be closed for about three weeks.

Business driveways on the south side of "O" Street will be closed during this construction. Customers can still reach these businesses from side streets and alleys. Motorists should watch for directional signs put up by business owners.

The city's contractor, Constructors Inc., has reconstructed the north side (westbound) lanes of "O" Street and installed a water main in the street. The contractor will now demolish and reconstruct the south side (eastbound) lanes of "O" Street to complete Phase I of the "O" Street project.

56th Street remains closed between "N" and "P" Streets until approximately the second week of July.
