At the same time, 56th Street will close for about one day between "R" and Randolph streets. Crews will construct a median in 56th Street at "P" Street in preparation for the one-way pairs traffic system, which will go into effect by the end of September. There will be no access from "O" Street to 56th Street in either direction during the closure. Drivers will be detoured around the construction area at "A" Street, 48th Street, "R" Street" and 70th Street. Signs will be posted for detour routes. When 56th Street re-opens, the new median at "P" Street will restrict turning movements at the intersection of 56th and "P." There will be no left turns from southbound 56th Street onto "P" Street and no left turns from westbound "P" Street onto 56th Street.
