North 66th Street will close between “O” and “Q” streets the morning of Tuesday, May 20 as part of the East “O” Street project. At the same time, North 63rd and North 68th streets will reopen to traffic. The traffic signal at 63rd and “O” streets, which has been turned off since March, will be re-activated when 63rd Street opens. Crews will renovate pavement on 66th Street beginning at “O” Street and moving north. The intersection of 66th and “Q” streets will remain open until late June or early July, when it will close for reconstruction. All of 66th Street is expected to reopen by late July or early August. Motorists can access businesses in the East Park Plaza and Westfield Shoppingtown Gateway areas from the 66th and “Q” Street intersection until it closes and from 63rd and 68th streets. The changes are part of phase two of the East “O” Street project, which will widen the street from two to three lanes in each direction from Eastridge Drive to Wedgewood Drive. The latest information on the project can be found on the 24-Hour East “O” Street Information Line, 441-0432, and on the City web site, www.lincoln.ne.gov. |
