HIGHLANDS TRAIL TO BE DEDICATED OCTOBER 14th

Mayor Coleen J. Seng will help dedicate the new Highlands Trail that loops around Lincolnís Highlands Neighborhood in northwest Lincoln at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 14. The ceremony will take place near the north entrance to Highlands Park at Northwest 2nd Street and West Fletcher Avenue.

The Highlands Trail is about three miles long and provides connections to the Superior Street Trail, Fredstrom Elementary School, University Tech Park and the Highlands Neighborhood, Park, Golf Course and Swimming Pool. The trail project was a partnership among the City of Lincoln and several businesses and organizations including Sandhills Publishing Company; Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., U.S.A; the University of Nebraska Foundation; Ridge Development Company; and Southview, Inc.

Parking for the trail dedication is available along the side streets of Northwest 2nd and Northwest 4th streets at West Fletcher. For more information on the dedication, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 441-8249.

The dedication will be held in conjunction with Fredstromís Pumpkin Walk to promote school and community spirit as well as fitness and wellness. The walk is open to the public, and registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the school, 5700 Northwest 10th Street. For information on the Pumpkin Walk, call Fredstrom School at 436-1140.
