Mayor Coleen J. Seng today announced the winners of the annual water conservation busboard contest. Lincoln fifth-graders were invited to participate in the art contest, sponsored by the Mayor’s Water Conservation Task Force. The winning entry was submitted by Monica Claesson, who is home-schooled at Oakview Christian School. Her artwork will be displayed on two StarTran busboards.
“This contest is a great way to showcase the talents of our young people,” said Mayor Seng. “It’s also a great way to get them thinking about water conservation at an early age. If they are to make intelligent decisions about water and the environment in general, they must be taught not only scientific facts, but also to value and respect our natural resources.”
Second place was awarded to Emmie Farrar of Hawthorne Elementary, and the third-place award went to Katelynn Young of Hawthorne Elementary. Honorable mention awards were presented to Mikayla Findlay from Hawthorne Elementary and Jackie Osenbaugh from Morley Elementary.
