The Mayor’s Advisory Committee for the Veterans Memorial Garden invites the public to a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony at the Garden in Antelope Park on Wednesday, December 7. The event will begin at 11:55 a.m. to coincide with the time of the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. The program will include remarks from Keith Fickenscher, President of the Advisory Committee and President of Tabitha Health Care Services. Lumir Vajgrt will play “Taps,” and Gerry Harris, Chaplain of American Legion Post #3, will give the invocation and benediction. The Nebraska Liberty Bell, which was recently added to Antelope Park, also will be rung. The shelter near the Garden will be open for refreshments before and after the ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the shelter. The public is invited to visit the 18 monuments in the Garden, where flags will be flying to honor all veterans. |
