The Lincoln Emergency Communications/911 Division is assisting the wildfire recovery effort in Valentine by sending its portable antennae and radio system to the area. Valentine’s existing public safety tower was disabled by the wildfire. The State of Nebraska requested the City’s system, which was provided through Homeland Security funds.

The division’s Radio Shop deployed the equipment and three technicians late afternoon Monday, July 17. The technicians will help assemble and set up the system to provide public safety responders in the Valentine area with temporary radio coverage until an alternate means of communication can be established.
