10th and South to close June 16 for ten days The intersection of 9th and South streets, which has been closed since June 2, is scheduled to reopen around noon today, June 8. It was originally scheduled to be closed until June 12 as part of the South Streets Improvement Project. The intersection of 10th and South streets will be closed to traffic starting at 4 a.m., Saturday, June 16. The intersection will reopen June 25, weather permitting. Detour routes will be marked with signs and are available on the City Web site at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: southstreet). South Street from 16th to 17th will remain closed for about four more weeks. The South Street Improvements Project began in March. Improvements include roadway resurfacing, replacement of medians and traffic signals, new pavement markings, new streetscape enhancements and replacement of the water main and storm sewers. The entire project from 8th to 18th streets has four phases and is scheduled to be complete by the end of July 2007.
