City of Lincoln Mayor's Office 2007 Media Releases |
The public is invited to an open house on the proposed design of the new MoPac Trail Bridge from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 21 at Grace United Methodist Church, 2640 “R” Street. Design work is nearly completed for the bridge, which will cross North 27th Street between Apple and “X” streets. The bridge will provide a safe crossing over one of the City’s busiest streets and connect the existing MoPac Trail with its extension to the west. Construction is expected to begin by next spring, and the project is scheduled for completion in fall 2008. The open house will include a brief presentation at 5:15 p.m., which will be repeated at 6:15 p.m. Representatives of the City and its project consultants will be available to discuss the proposed design and answer questions. The bridge is being funded through a federal grant, private donations being raised by Great Plains Trails Network and tax increment financing.
