Local wood processor, Hofeling Enterprises, has given the City a late holiday present by offering free wood chipping for the holiday that the City collected at seven recycling sites. City Recycling Coordinator Gene Hanlon said Scott Hofeling offered to grind the trees as a community service, and his offer will save the City close to $2,500 in grinding expenses. "We thought we could save the City a little money by grinding the trees, and we have a use for the mulch that the public doesn't pick up at our operation," Hofeling said . Hofeling will grind the trees at each collection site the week of January 19th. The mulch will then be taken to the Hofeling processing center at 2200 South Folsom Court. Residents can pick up the free mulch at that facility from January 26 through February 28.
