"Bill Harris served as Mayor at a very pivotal time in the City of Lincoln. His visionary leadership in the redevelopment of the Haymarket helped to create one of the most vibrant areas in our City and set the stage two decades later for our historic arena project. His successful efforts to secure the Farm Aid III concert for Lincoln in 1987 demonstrated his can-do attitude, and the big dreams he had for our community.
"As a public servant at the local and state levels, a businessman and a promoter of the arts, culture and entertainment, Bill Harris made significant contributions to our City and State. Personally, I will miss his friendship, and Judy and I extend our condolences to Mary Sue, his children and the entire Harris family."
