City Recycling Coordinator Gene Hanlon said 10,446 pounds of confidential documents were shredded during a two-hour "Shredding Day" event held Saturday, April 30 in conjunction with "Clean Your Files Week." The event provided residents with an opportunity to support Earth Day by recycling old files.
"This was another great example of the community stepping up to help our environment," said Hanlon. "I want to thank Shredding Solutions and Recycling Enterprises for donating their mobile shredding equipment and Lincoln Public Schools and SouthPointe Pavilions for generously allowing us to use their locations. Without this kind of community support, we would not be able to provide this very valuable and important service."
