The public is invited to the 27th annual Fun Run/Walk - Zoo Day Saturday, May 21 at the Lincoln Children's Zoo, 1222 S. 27th St. The event is sponsored by Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR), the Lincoln Children's Zoo, HyVee, Wayne's Body Shop and radio stations 92.9 The Eagle and 96 KX. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the Fun Run/Walk starts at 10 a.m. in the parking lot at the zoo entrance. Participants will circle the zoo for one mile and finish where the race began. The entire family is welcome.
After the Fun Run/Walk, the fun continues with Fire Safety Day at the Zoo until 3 p.m. LFR invites families with young children to visit the Children's Fire Safety House. LFR also will have a fire engine and ambulance on display, and other fire safety activities will be demonstrated inside and outside of the Zoo.
The Fun Run/Walk is free, and those who participate in it will receive a free train ride around the Zoo. Regular admission will be charged for those entering the Zoo.
