The public is invited to a guided tour of the Strolling Rose Garden near 27th and Capital Parkway in Antelope Park at 6:30 p.m. this evening. The tour will highlight the new trial plantings, and the public will have an opportunity to purchase the same plants found in both the Strolling Rose Garden and the Sunken Gardens (quantities are limited). Proceeds from the plant sale will support the horticultural programs of Lincoln Parks and Recreation.
Signs identifying the new plant material will include QR (quick response) codes. The codes are readable from camera phones and QR barcode readers, and they will link the user to the Finke Gardens website where they will find complete information on the plants and an opportunity to provide comments.
The featured plants include but are not limited to annuals such as Dark Violet Angelonia, Mystic Spires Salvia and Dreamtime Jumbo White Strawflower and perennials such as Dark Towers Pentsemon, Pink Double Delight Coneflower and Going Bananas Daylily.
