Residents are encouraged to celebrate Lincoln Recycles Day Saturday, November 12 by participating in these City-sponsored events:
The public is invited to visit Bennett Martin and Walt libraries or the UNL Student Union through November 15 to see how plastic bottles are prepared for shipment prior to being recycled. Visitors can guess how many bottles are in the display and enter a drawing for a $100 Russ's Market gift card.
Residents also are urged to sign a pledge card to improve their recycling habits over the next year. Pledges may be submitted online at recycle.lincoln.ne.gov. Pledge cards also may be picked up and dropped off at 31 area locations including all Lincoln City Libraries; the Air Park, Calvert, Easterday, "F" Street and Irving Rec Centers; and all Russ's Market stores. A complete list of locations is available at recycle.lincoln.ne.gov.
The City Recycling Office is cosponsoring a recycling drive with the Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) Recycling Program. LPS will use proceeds of the drive for recycling collection containers and environmental education.
America Recycles Day, now in its 14th year, is recognized annually on November 15. For more information on Lincoln Recycles Day, visit recycle.lincoln.ne.gov or call the Recycling Hotline at 402-441-8215.
