Mayor Beutler Responds to Veto Override

Mayor Chris Beutler today issued the following statement in response to the Legislature's override of Governor Dave Heineman's veto of LB 357, a bill allowing voters to increase the city sales tax by up to one-half percent:

"I want to thank the Senators who supported the citizens' right to vote on options for funding projects important to the future of their communities. I look forward to having a conversation with the public about the sales tax option to determine the best course of action for our City. The discussion will focus on how we could best use this new tool to help fund the South Beltway, sidewalks, property tax relief and other important City needs."
