Tickets Remain for Mayor's Arts Awards

A limited number of tickets is still available for the 2012 Mayor's Arts Awards, which will be presented the evening of Monday, June 18 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Reservations will be accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, June 11. Tickets are $50 each, and they are available at artscene.org or at the Lincoln Arts Council, 1701 S. 17th St. The theme for the event is "Destination: ARTS." It begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes a reception, dinner and awards ceremony.

The 2012 award winners are:

• Mayor's Choice Award - Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center
• Arts Organization Award - Friends of the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery
• Outstanding Event Award - Flatwater Shakespeare Company's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream"
• Artistic Achievement Award - Visual Arts - Janice Stauffer
• Artistic Achievement Award - Performing Arts - Stephen Gaines
• Artistic Achievement Award - Youth - Rebecca DeNell
• Gladys Lux Education Award - Christin Mamiya
• Heart of the Arts Award - the late Claire Hoppe
• Halcyon Allsman Benefactor of the Arts Award - Robert and Vicki Northrup
• Oliva Family "Arts for Kids" Award - the late Sarah Lahr
• ArtScene Backstage Award - Nancy Dawson
• Literary Heritage Award - Joe Starita
• Kimmel Foundation Emerging Artist Award - Trudie Teijink
• Kimmel Foundation Emerging Writer Award - Marie Thurmer
