The public is invited to a free birding event, the Lincoln Bird EnCOUNTer, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16 at two locations - the Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th Street, and Anderson Branch Library, 3635 Touzalin Avenue. The event is a collaboration among Lincoln City Libraries, the Wild Bird Habitat Stores, the Wachiska Audubon Society and the Nebraska Games and Parks Commission.
People of all ages are invited to watch, explore and learn about our feathered friends; make and fill a burlap bag full of nesting materials or a pine cone feeder; learn to use binoculars for bird watching; or listen to and identify bird songs. The event includes crafts, games and live raptors.
The Lincoln Bird EnCOUNTer is taking place in conjunction with the Great Backyard Bird Count the same weekend. Information on that nationwide event is available at birdsource.org/gbbc.
