Online registration is now available for swim lessons at parks.lincoln.ne.gov. This is the first year the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program will be offered through the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department.
"We are excited to continue our partnership with Lincoln Parks and Recreation to help further prevent drowning through the Learn to Swim Program," said Sarah Szymanski, American Red Cross Divisional Program Manager for Aquatics in Chicago. "Our program to promote safety in, on and around the water will continue to serve the Lincoln community."
The City's nine public pools will offer a variety of swim lessons from June 3 through August 2. Classes are offered for all ages, including children as young as six months. Four two-week sessions are available Mondays through Thursdays. Fridays are reserved as a makeup day in case of weather cancellations. Morning and evening classes are offered. More information, including class descriptions, is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: pools).
A new feature this year is the ability for participants to sign up for text notifications of weather cancellations through Rainedout.net.
Those who need assistance with online registration can visit the Aquatics Office at the F Street Recreation Center, 1225 F St. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
