Beginning at about 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, South 56th Street from "A" to Randolph streets will close for eight weeks for rehabilitation. The project will widen the street to add a common center left-turn lane.
Work will include the replacement of the existing concrete base as well as new asphalt, curbs and gutters and pavement markings. Pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed to meet ADA standards. Lincoln Electric System, Windstream, Time Warner Cable and Black Hills Energy utility relocations also will occur.
The detour route is "A," 48th and "O" streets. The City and the contractor, Constructors Inc., will work with local businesses and residences to allow access during the project.
