Applications will be accepted through Monday, January 6, 2014 for a vacancy on the Lincoln City Libraries Board of Trustees. Maja Viklands Harris recently resigned from the Board to accept a Mayoral appointment to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission, and the person appointed to replace her will serve the rest of her term through August 31, 2015.
The Library Board is a seven-member administrative board appointed by the Lincoln City Council. Each trustee is obligated to work toward improvement in library services through well-trained staff and efficient use of funds, to support adequate funding for library services and to promote the best possible use of all library resources. The mission of Lincoln City Libraries is to foster the power of reading and provide open access to all forms of information to enrich people's lives every day.
Applicants must be residents of Lincoln. Those interested are asked to send a letter along with a completed Board Appointment Information form to email@example.com or to Candidate Search, Lincoln City Libraries, 136 S. 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68508. The Board Appointment Information form can be obtained by calling the Library Director's office at 402-441-8512 or by printing a copy from lincolnlibraries.org.
The Library Board will review the applications and forward all information and any recommendations to the City Council.
