StarTran Ready for Busy Weekend

StarTran will participate in three events during the weekend of April 12 and 13:

Big Red Express shuttle service for the Nebraska spring football game, April 12

In addition to regular route service, the Big Red Express will transport fans to and from the game. Buses will leave from two locations:

Big Red Express service will begin two hours prior to kick-off. The last buses will leave the lots about 45 minutes prior to kickoff. Drop off and pick up is on "R" Street between 12th and 14th streets. Buses return to the lots immediately after the game. Cost is $5 each way or $10 round-trip, and passengers will need exact change. More information on the Big Red Express and regular route service is available at startran.lincoln.ne.gov and by calling 402-476-1234.

Stuff the Bus for Friendship Home, April 12 and 13

The public is asked to help "Stuff the Bus" by donating new items needed by women and children at the Friendship Home, a 24-hour emergency shelter for women and their children experiencing domestic violence. StarTran buses will be parked at these locations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day:

Items needed include diapers, toilet paper, towels, sheets, pillows, kitchenware, pots and pans, toiletries, laundry and cleaning supplies, batteries, hair care products, laundry baskets, lamps, vacuum cleaners and other small appliances. Cash donations also are accepted.

Earth Day at Union Plaza, April 12

StarTran personnel will be at Earth Day to demonstrate how easy it is to use the bike racks on the buses. Those attending should look for the bus with the Bike and Bus wrap. StarTran also will give demonstrations at the Bike UNL event Wednesday, April 16 at Union Plaza.
