10 Health TV, the government access channel on Time Warner Cable (TWC) channel 10, is now airing a monthly 30-minute health and wellness program in partnership with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD). The first "Shape of the City" episode features information on battling the flu and suicide prevention as well as an easy fitness tip.
A web page with a link to the monthly show is available at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: Shape of the City). The site also includes a new community calendar of health and wellness events. The calendar can be found at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: 10 Health Calendar).
10 Health TV programming can also be viewed at youtube.com/10HealthLincoln and through live streaming and video-on-demand on lincoln.ne.gov. If you have an older analog television, you will need a digital adapter from TWC to view the programs on channel 10. If you have a QAM tuner, you'll find 10 Health TV on digital channel 71.15.
Local organizations interested in having events and programs featured on the calendar or on 10 Health TV, can send an e-mail to 10HealthLincoln@gmail.com. 10 Health TV will also continue to promote health events and videos on Twitter and Facebook.
10 Health TV was created through a grant from the Community Health Endowment to Lincoln. Some funding for "Shape of the City" and the calendar is coming from the Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln, which was recently awarded a Partnership to Improve Community Health grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
